Ann Marie Pappas, 83, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully Friday, November 22nd at Allied Services Hospice Center in Scranton, and in her final hours was surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Patyk) Pappas. She was a graduate of Hawley High School Class of 1959. Ann Marie worked at several travelagencies in Syracuse, N.Y, and in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ann was the owner of Pied Piper Travel Agency in Hamlin for many years. Upon closing the agency, Ann was the owner and operator of Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground in Lakeville, which was built by her parents. She passed the campground to the next generation upon her retirement. She was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary’s Parish Community.

Ann Marie is remembered by all as a bright, lively, caring woman who loved traveling all over the world, gardening, entertaining, and cooking her famous gourmet meals. She was proud to be a successful, independent woman who owned her own businesses at a time when that was revolutionary.

Surviving is her sister Juel Shutkufski of Lakeville; and the countless nieces and nephews who were like her children and absolutely adored her.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Ratay, Leona Malinoski, Romayne Vogel, and Angela Muccino; brothers Vincent, Ronald, and Anthony Pappas; and her beloved partner,Richard “Sam” Huston.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tues., Dec. 3rd, at 11:00am in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel by Rev. Stephen Bosomafi, Pastor.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am – 11:00am in the church.

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
