Ann Elizabeth Schmieg Reap, 88, of the Green Ridge Section of Scranton, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 18, 2025, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of James P. Reap, who passed away in 2015 after 55 years of marriage.

Born on June 19, 1936, in Pittston, Ann was the daughter of the late William J. Schmieg and Madeline Klein Schmieg. She graduated as valedictorian of St. Mary's of the Assumption School in Scranton, Class of 1954. Throughout her life, Ann was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, raising six children and lovingly caring for her many grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Clare/Paul's Parish in Scranton.

Ann was a woman of many talents and passions. She served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, a cookie chairwoman for the Girl Scouts, and treasurer for the Green Ridge Little League. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and working on crossword puzzles. Her homemade Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren were a beloved tradition, and her creative spirit will be fondly remembered by all.

Ann is survived by her children, John Reap and his wife Kathleen, Kathleen Crofton and her husband Robert, Maureen Shea and her husband Paul, James P. Reap Jr. and his wife Aimee, and Brian Reap; as well as her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Kanavy Reap. She was a proud grandmother to Tara Hogan and her husband Michael, Robert Crofton, Daniel Reap, Dylan Reap and his wife Vicky, Michelle Reap, Kaycee Harte and her husband Matt, Kelly Reap, Paul Shea, James Reap III, Kathryn Shea, Connor Reap, Christopher Reap, and Martin Crofton; and great-grandmother to Cecilia Hogan, Ellie Harte, James Harte, and Adalyn Harte.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband James, her son Kevin P. Reap, and his children Jessie Reap, Grace Ann Reap, Kevin P. Reap Jr., and Colin Reap. She was also predeceased by her sister Madlyn, her brother William, and in-laws Ruth Schmieg, Alice Ann Coleman, Patricia Powell, and Jerry Kearney.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the caretakers from the Life Geisinger program, the staff at Geisinger CMC, the compassionate team at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and especially their brother Brian, whose dedication as Ann's primary caregiver allowed her to stay in her home as long as she did.
