Obituary

Arnold J. Lotz, Jr., 83, of Scott Twp., passed away early Tuesday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 46 years is the former Kathy O'Hora-Lotz.

 Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Arnold J. and Anna Owca-Lotz, and a graduate of West Scranton High School Class of 1962. He was a proud Corporal and Legal Clerk in the United States Marines, receiving the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals and Rifle Expert Badge. He served both stateside and overseas in Okinawa, Japan. His most notable accomplishment was a 44-year career with AAA Motor Club of Northeastern Pennsylvania, retiring at 70 years of age as Managing Director of Emergency Road Service.

Arnie was a loving and devoted husband, parent, grandparent, brother, uncle and friend. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching his family grow and be happy. He touched so many lives, as was evident in the dozens of visitors that saw him through his final days.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Kimberly Lotz-Jynella and husband William of Cape Coral, FL, and Shauna Lotz-Margolis and husband Jordan of Babylon, NY; son Ryan Lotz and wife Casey of Clarks Summit; sister Ellen Lotz-Scholl of Lake Winola; grandchildren William, Wilhelm, and Shane Jynella, Jacob, Kenadi, Packy and Harper Lotz, and Max and Leo Margolis; great grandchildren Keenan and Cayden Jynella, and Gavin Fairbanks; nephews Marc and Josh Scholl, & Jason and Eric O'Hora.

 He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristen Ann Lotz; and brother-in-laws Robert O'Hora and Robert Scholl. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John M. Lapera on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, Pa 1841.Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. at the Church.

Interment with Military Honors, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

 Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton.

 In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be made in Arnie's memory to the Church of Saint Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, Pa 18411 or St.Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
