Arthur Carrington "Bud" Newton, Dallas, formerly of Scranton, went home to the Lord Monday afternoon in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center after an illness. His wife was the former Karen Rozelle who passed away in 2020. At the time of her passing the couple had been married 58 years.
Bud was born 1943 in Darby, PA., he was the son of the late Arthur Carrington Newton, Sr and Marie Bigger Pesek. A machinist by trade, Bud worked for General Dynamics, Chamberlain as well as Foster Wheeler. He was a quiet, hardworking, family man that wanted to see everyone happy. He was very generous and willing to help anyone that asked. He was spiritual and a strong believer in God and leading a honest life.
He enjoyed playing his keyboard, planting flowers, cutting grass on his riding lawn mover, doing projects around the house and fishing. He enjoyed going for rides in his Lexus and a big fan of chocolate (everything) and ice cream daily. He loved spending time with his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. He looked forward to family gatherings, cookouts and the more family and people coming, the happier he was.
He was a big animal lover. He was very fond of his cat Angel. He liked feeding the birds and deer everyday out his dining room window so Angel could watch the birds with him. He also had a love of music. He was a big fan of Penn State and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Surviving are his daughters Lisa Pretko and son in law Matthew Pretko of Dallas; Leigh Ann Slusark and her fiance George Kocher of Harvey's Lake; eleven grandchildren; great grandchildren
He was also preceded in death by his son Arthur Newton in 2015 and his granddaughter Jacqueline Newton in 2023.
A memorial service will be held at the the convenience of the family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
