Ave Maria Moran

Ave Maria Carroll Moran, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 17 in Sarasota Florida. Her loving husband of 58 years is Richard “Dick” Moran.

Ave was born March 22, 1942, in Scranton. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret Conway Carroll. She was a graduate of the former Cathedral High School and the Barat College of the Sacred Heart. Upon her graduation, she then volunteered for one year in the Catholic Lay Extension Program.

Ave and Dick married in 1966 and moved to many various places across the country with Dick‘s job. Along the way, she made many new friends and always seemed to find old friends from Scranton. She was a grand hostess and love to cook and entertain friends. While living in the Boston area, she had the joy of working with Julia Child. After retiring to Lake Wood Ranch, Florida, Ave loved seeing and entertaining the snowbirds from up north.

Also surviving are cousin Liz Haggerty, the Carroll family of Connecticut, the Meade family of Dunmore; in laws Mary Jean Moran, Nancy Moran, Marge Sachs and Atty, Joseph Moran; nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded by her brothers Raymond and his wife, Sally and William and his wife Patty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 9 at 10 AM in the Immaculate Conception Church corner of Taylor Avenue and Gibson Street in the Hill section of Scranton.

Friends may call Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of mass.
