Barbara B. Wertz of Hamlin, died May 28 at Wayne Woodlands Manor following an illness.  Her husband was the late Larry A. Wertz, who died in 2019.  Larry and Barbara resided in Bloomsbury, NJ, before retiring to the Poconos.

Born at Mitchel Air Force Base on Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Verel Rollins Blaine, and Mayhue D. Blaine.  She was a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, CO, and received a BS in Nursing from the University of Colorado.  She worked as a registered nurse before becoming a mother and homemaker.

Barbara enjoyed many hobbies and favorite past times – some of which included tole painting, line dancing, swimming, tennis, crocheting, gardening, and animal rescue.  She was a long time member of the Bloomsbury Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary while residing in NJ, and later, a member of the Red Hat Club, Walking Club, and Garden Club, in her Pocono community.  She also spent many years delivering Meals on Wheels both in NJ and PA, and was an active member of her church.  Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, working in her gardens, and enjoying her lake community.

Surviving are her sister, Margaret Corrigan of Little Canada, Minnesota; daughter, Virginia Wertz Elliston and her husband Bill of Easton; son, Scott Wertz of Bethlehem; and granddaughter, Jesika Cilenti of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

A private family service was held at James Wilson Funeral Home in Lake Ariel, PA with service by Cal Wiggins, and Interment at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley, PA.
