Beth M. Ransom

Beth M. Ransom, of Lake Ariel, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024, at

Regional Hospital of Scranton after a brief illness.

She is survived by her two children, Joan Motts Shuey and Victor Motts and wife,

Debbie; grandchildren Amelia Shuey Cruciani and Joshua Shuey; seven great

-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her great cat Tweety. She was preceded in

death by her siblings Eleanor Morgantini, Betty MacAvoy, Howard Ransom, Clark

Ransom and Thelma Duvall, and her parents Merle Ransom and Mildred Corey

Ransom, of Salem Mountain Road in Carbondale Township.

Beth was a member of Lake Ariel United Methodist Church and was employed as a

caretaker of disabled children. Beth was a talented artist, an avid reader and traveler

and a student of history. She loved researching the genealogy of her family and took

great pride in discovering the news and tales of her ancestors who were amongst the

first settlers of Susquehanna and Wayne Counties. She was a champion of the

underdog, two-legged and four. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her

integrity and lifelong love of learning, but especially for her generosity and kindness.

Funeral services were private at the convenience of the family and cremation took place

at the Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
