Bettie Louise Castiglioni

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we announce the passing of our beloved Bettie Louise Castiglioni, Lake Wallenpaupack, who passed away Tuesday, April 15th surrounded by her cherished family at the age of 93. She is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, Joseph Castiglioni.

Born March 25, 1932 in Shawsville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Merle Sutphin Reece. She was a devoted member of the Greentown Bible Fellowship Church.

Bettie was a woman whose warmth, gentleness, and unwavering faith were felt by all who knew her. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by the love she so generously gave throughout her life.

Bettie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt to a sizable and loving family who were the joy of her heart. Her devotion to her family was matched only by her deep Christian faith. A bold prayer warrior and devoted intercessor, Bettie’s spiritual strength and steady encouragement uplifted countless souls over the years.

Her creativity and generosity shone in every stitch of the more than 100 quilts she lovingly crafted for family, friends, and charitable causes. A master of quilting and sewing, Bettie’s handiwork wrapped generations in warmth-literal and emotional.

She was also an avid reader and lifelong learner, who volunteered for many years at Canaan Christian Academy.

Bettie had the rare gift of being endeared by everyone she met. Friends from every chapter of her life-too many to name-spoke of her in the highest regard. She was remembered as sweet, generous, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a hand, no matter the task.

She had a great appetite for life and for the Lord, and she approached each day with joy and an open heart. Bettie’s legacy is one of love, faith, service, and smiles. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit continues in every life she touched.

We thank God for the gift of Bettie’s life, and rejoice that she is now at peace, wrapped in everlasting love.

Surviving Bettie are her eight children: Stephen Castiglioni and his wife Cynthia, James Castiglioni, Lisa Castiglioni, David Castiglioni, John Castiglioni and his wife Linda, Paul Castiglioni, Karen O’Malley and her husband Kevin, Joanne Castiglioni; child under guardianship Anne Castiglioni; Her beloved grandchildren Joseph Castiglioni, Louis Castiglioni, John Castiglioni, Maureen Sanchez, Ryan O’Malley; Thirteen great-grandchildren Celeste Castiglioni, Adeline Castiglioni, Oliver Castiglioni, Emma Castiglioni, Charles Castiglioni, Eli Castiglioni, Benedict Castiglioni, Ari Castiglioni, Lucas Castiglioni, Raza Castiglioni, Roman Sanchez, Amaya Sanchez, and Declan O’Malley.

She is also survived by her siblings, John Reece and his wife Ann, Paul Reece and his wife Mary, and Jane Bobe and her husband Leo. She was also preceded in death by her brother Jerry Reece.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11am in the Greentown Bible Fellowship Church 103 Blue Heron Dr. Greentown, PA. 18426.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday morning at the church from 10am until the time of the service.

Interment, Pine Grove Cemetery, South Sterling.
