Billie Jean Jeffery

Billie Jean Jeffery, 80, of Ransom Twp, formerly of Scranton, PA, passed away on September 24, 2025, at Geisinger CMC, Scranton. Her husband is John T. Jeffery, with whom she celebrated 51 years of marriage on April 4th.

Born on July 12, 1945, in Binghamton, NY, Billie was the daughter of the late Harry and Vera Jenks Rockwell. She was raised in Greene, NY, and was a graduate of Greene Central School. She earned a childcare technician certificate from St. Catherine's Child Care Center in Albany, NY. She worked previously for the Jewish Home in Scranton, as a carrier for the Scranton Times, and as an Avon Ambassador, earning six Mrs. Albee awards. Her life's work and heartfelt service was to her family.

Billie is survived by her husband, John, and her children: Julie (Phil) Manwarren of South Abington Twp, Joanna (Steve) Nunemaker of Clarks Summit, Joel (Renay) Jeffery of Swan Quarter, NC, Jonathan (Kimary) Jeffery of Gouldsboro, Justin (Martha) Jeffery of Olyphant, and Janet Lanton of Dallas, PA.

Also surviving are 18 grandchildren: Jeffery (Jess) Nunemaker, Mikayla Jeffery, Etienne Nunemaker, Nathaniel Manwarren, Angelina Jeffery, Chloe Nunemaker, Allyson Manwarren, John Jeffery, Marianna Jeffery, Tsega Nunemaker, Indiana Lanton, Marissa Jeffery, Miya Jeffery, Lily Jeffery, Josiah Nunemaker, Luke Jeffery, Éowyn Lanton, and Owen Jeffery.

Billie dearly loved her siblings who all survive her: Dorothy Powell, Sandra Kellogg, Edith Hines, and Richard Rockwell.

Those who knew Billie will remember her compassion for the hurting, her sweet spirit, infectious smile, crafts, crotchet creations, and personal cards and letters. Her hugs melted hearts. Her prayers to God for her family and friends moved mountains.

Billie believed in Jesus Christ, and as she grew in her personal relationship with Him, she found a purpose and a joy that changed her life. She enjoyed serving as a pastor's wife alongside her husband at Wayside Gospel Chapel, Greentown.

A celebration of life service will be held at Faith Baptist Fellowship Church, Lake Ariel, PA on Saturday, October 4, at 11:00 a.m. Private interment to follow at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Friday, October 3, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
