Brian R. Long, 52, of Lake Ariel, passed away unexpectedly on Friday at his home.
Brian was born on January 17, 1974, in Barberton, Ohio, and was the son of Richard Long and stepmother Cathy Long of Lake Ariel, and Candice Marshall and stepfather Chris Marshall of Hawley. He was a graduate of Western Wayne High School. Brian was currently employed as a superintendent with Sordoni Construction and attended services at Christians in Honesdale.
Brian will be remembered as a loving father, son, and uncle. His whole life revolved around his children. He was a selfless person who was actively involved in all of his children's sports and activities. He was their biggest fan, always on the sidelines, coaching them, giving them a hard time, and always present. No matter the situation, he was always there.
Brian enjoyed spending his free time golfing, fishing, hunting, and being outdoors with his children. He was a great friend who brought people together and kept childhood memories alive. Brian had an incredible ability to build and maintain deep friendships throughout his life, and he carried those relationships with him wherever he went. He was someone people could count on, someone who showed up, and someone who made everyone around him feel like they mattered. His circle of friends was wide, but his connections were personal and lasting. Brian had a way of bringing laughter and joy into any room with his countless jokes and wild ideas. His stories and theories brought laughter to everyone around him. His love for life was infectious, and he was always reminding others, "UBLONG."
Surviving are his most prized possessions, his beloved children, Alex Long of Charleston, SC; Skylar Long, Ronnie Long, and Archer Long of Waymart; his beloved soulmate, Debbie Hemmler; his sisters, Christa Maiocco and her husband Lenny of Lake Ariel, and Melissa Flores and her husband James of Peachtree City, GA; his stepsisters, Kiersten Semon and her husband Jeff, Heather Applegate and her husband Steve, and Heidi Rudnicky and her husband Ryan; his nieces, Alaina Maiocco and Ava Flores; his nephews, James Flores, Jakob Flores, and Lenny Maiocco; his great-nephew, Karter Flores; his step-nieces, Lylah Semon and Allison Applegate; his step-nephews, Isaac Semon and Kyle Rudnicky; and countless friends.
A celebration of Brian's life will take place on Saturday, April 25, at 2:00 PM at the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all who knew Brian honor his memory by living as he did: as a loving and caring parent, a devoted son, brother, and uncle, a loyal friend, and a kind and generous soul. Brian would want everyone to see the beauty of being outside, to enjoy nature, to spend time with friends, and most of all, to love their family as he loved his. He would want everyone to remember, "UBLONG."
