In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters Patricia (Lyons) Falls, Joan (Lyons) Mercer, and Virginia "Ginger" (Lyons) Moss.

"SeaDog," a retired Teamsters Union truck driver, was a Vietnam-era Veteran of the US Navy, having served more than nine years. After completing his military service, Carl was a Technical Director for television production company Tel-Fax Inc. before he worked in various shops at the Tobyhanna Army Depot before retiring in 2004.

An avid boater recognized on Lake Wallenpaupack in his pride and joy boat "Gypsy," Carl's other hobbies included SCUBA diving, homebrewing, and cooking. He was also loved his many dogs, cats and exotic pets like ducks and chickens.

Carl was a quick study and brilliant game player who often amazed his family by besting them in Scrabble challenges by knowing a dhow is an Arabic sailing vessel or Trivial Pursuit by knowing the northern most capital in the world was Reykjavik, Iceland.
