Charles Robert Havlik, 79, died at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a brief but special stay surrounded by many loved ones.

Charles, known fondly as “Sonny”, is survived by his adoring wife of 56 years, Hilda Tom, and his daughters Barbara Martoglio and her husband Ed, and children Richard, Madeline, Emily, and Maggie; and Lisa Ward and her husband Chris and children Colin and Molly. Charlie also leaves behind his brother Don and his wife Tina; brothers-in-law Emil Schillaci and Stephen Tom, many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was born in Passaic and lived in Garfield and Elmwood Park prior to meeting his wife. They lived in Garfield and Parsippany, NJ before moving to Lakeville, PA where they resided before he died.

Charlie joined the army for 2 years before starting his career as a welder working for Falstrum and Metromatic, before buying and operating Weld-Rite Welding Co. in Farfield, NJ.

Charlie, always a hardworker, made time for his wife and children, was best known for handyman skills inside and outside their homes, building swings, gardens, pickling, car repairs, fishing, camping, swimming, skating, and driving his cars, ATVs, boats, and golf cart.

He is also known for making people laugh, playing with his grandchildren and helping friends who might not be so handy.

In addition to his beloved Hilda, children, and grandchildren, he leaves behind many dear and caring friends.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Barbara Havlik and his buddy and only dog Toby.

His family is grateful for the care received from DeVita Dialysis Center, Wayne Woodlands Manor, and Commonwealth Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 1:00pm in St. Mary’s Church 305 St. Mary’s Church Rd. Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Monday from 4:00-7:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral
Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Cremation will follow the Mass in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church P.O. Box 188 Lake Ariel, PA 18436.
