Obituary

Daniel M. Rogers Jr., 63, of Scranton, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2026, at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Dan and his wife, Emily (nee Lutz) would have celebrated their 29th Wedding Anniversary in October.

Born February 3, 1963, in San Diego, California to Daniel M. Rogers, Sr. and Betty (Sollazzo) Norman. Dan grew up in New Jersey and was a graduate of Lyndhurst High School. He was currently employed at Docufree, but his passion was driving as a chauffeur for many limousine companies and private individuals. No one knew the streets of New York City without a map or GPS like him.

As a "people person" he dedicated his life to helping others and making others feel good. He never met a stranger, just a new friend. Aside from his work, Daniel was deeply devoted to his family. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his cherished children, River and Calvin, siblings, Vincent (Mary Lou) Donald, Missy (Scott), nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, honorary daughter and grandson Ari and Lucas.

Dan, aka Mr. Phunny Man, was always quick with a joke, movie quote or some type of prank. (Do not smell the icing!) An avid sports fan, Daniel loved his New York Giants, Mets, and Penn State football, he and Vince would call back and forth during most games. A gifted cook, he made the best food (especially Italian dishes) he commandeered the kitchen.

While he loved to serve others, it's through his love of serving the Lord that compelled him. He loved going on mission trips, serving in Newark, NJ, Cherokee, and Mississippi.

His generous spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Funeral Service will be held at Hope Church, Delaware Ave. in Scranton on Friday July 3, 2026 at 11 am.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Vanston and James Funeral home, 1401 Ash St. Scranton and Friday, 10 am until time of service at Hope Church, 720 Delaware St. Scranton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the family to help defray the cost of final expenses, to Gift of Life, to Hope Church, or to any other charitable organization that reflects Daniel's spirit of generosity.

As we gather to honor Daniel's life, we find solace in the love he shared with all of us and the legacy he leaves behind. His light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
