Darlene Alice Burnside

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Darlene Alice Burnside, who departed this life surrounded by her family on Wednesday evening in the Allied Services Hospice Center. She was the widow of Sidney Burnside, Sr. who passed away in 2012.

Born on February 19, 1952, in Scranton, Darlene was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Wilma Blue Bailey and was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School. Growing up in a loving family, she was known for her joyful spirit and unyielding determination. Darlene dedicated much of her life to her work at McKinney Corp, where she earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues. She was a devoted, proud and lifelong member of the Bethel AME Church.

Darlene took immense pride in her family. She is survived by her devoted son, Wade Bailey, and his wife Judy; her beloved granddaughter, Bobbi Bailey; step-son Sidney Burnside, Jr and his wife Ava; and her cherished step-grandchildren, Bryanna and Ethan Burnside. Darlene also leaves behind her loving siblings: Gail Waters and her husband Dorman, Steven Bailey, Paul Bailey and his wife Judy, Todd Bailey and his wife Margi, David Bailey and his wife Laura, Glenn Bailey and his husband Larry, Yvonne Sanchez and her husband Leo, and Heather Bailey; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews. Each of them will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.

Darlene was preceded in death by her brother Stewart Bailey.

As we gather to reflect on Darlene's remarkable life, let us remember her laughter, her strength, and her unwavering love. May her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all who were by Darlene's side through her final journey who gave her and the family such great comfort and care. They would like to especially thank the Clarks Summit Senior Living, Allied Services Hospice, Traditional Home Health and Hospice and the Allied Tru Unit.
