David J. Opet II, 55, of Madison Twp., PA, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026 surrounded by family. Born August 13,1970 in Tunkhannock, Pa, he was the son of the late David J Opet and Gloria Jean Nartowicz Opet. He is survived by his brothers John J Opet (Philadelphia, PA) and Robert J. Opet (Tunkhannock, PA). 

Dave, a friend to everyone, always put others before himself. There was never an "ask" that was too big or too small. Dave was the neighborhood Mister-fix-it, always mowing and snow plowing for people or fixing their tvs. He spent free time volunteering at the American Red Cross and the Dialysis Center in Scranton. 

Dave had two seasons: football season, where he religiously cheered on his beloved New Orleans Saints no matter how many times they let him down, and on the off season, Nascar, and, the weather was never too cold for shorts, and, the best time of day was cracking open a can of Keystone Light. Dave cherished time with his chosen family where he took pride in making them listen to the band, Alabama, and eat his beloved Komensky Kielbalsi. Every year he'd drag someone down to the Tunkhannock fair to stand in line for Triton Pizza. Locals gave him the nickname "Townie," which he took much pride in. 

Dave, a staple at R Place in Hamlin, PA will be missed. 

A celebration of Dave's Life will be Held at R Place on Sunday, March 15 from 3 til 6PM. Family and friends are invited to attend.
