Dennis R. Peoples, 63, of Hawley passed away peacefully at home Monday following an illness. Born in Dubois, PA January 26, 1954, he was the eldest son of Wilmer and Florence DeRalph Peoples.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Debbie, son Eric and wife Joyce and grandchildren Ethan and Daniel of Bethany, daughter Dana and husband Jason Freethy and grandchildren Lydia and Nathan of Lakeville, and mother, Florence of Hawley.  Also surviving are brother Ken Peoples and wife Cathy of Center Valley, sister-in-law Lea Peoples of Lakeville, sister-in-law Diane Karkheck of Hawley, brother-in-law Wayne Morrissey and wife Beth of Sulphur, LA, brother-in-law Craig Morrissey of Honesdale. Dennis is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by father Wilmer, a brother David, a sister Cindy May, and a niece Laura.

Dennis was a 1971 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School and studied Biology at Penn State University. He recently retired from PennDOT after 37 years.

An avid outdoorsman, his many hobbies included reptiles, hunting, fishing, kayaking, photography, and growing and sharing his annual garlic crop. He was also a member of the Tafton Scuba Dive and Rescue team for several years.

A lifetime music lover, Dennis played the guitar in numerous blues bands and enjoyed many concerts and festivals over the years.

Dennis was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend.  He took great joy in spending time with all who knew him and particularly enjoyed the years he had with his grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dennis’s countless friends for a lifetime of cherished moments and great times. They would also like to thank Melissa and the other wonderful caregivers of Wayne Memorial Home, Health and Hospice, Dr. Haley and staff, as well as the Hershey Medical ALS Team and The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of ALS.  A private memorial will be held at a future time at the discretion of the family.  Memorial contributions in Dennis’s memory can be made to the ALS Association at www.alsa.org (PO BOX 3722 Boone IA 50037-0022).
