Edith Ritter Lewis

Edith Ritter, 91, of Mount Cobb, went home to be with our Lord Saturday, July 23, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 23, 1924, Edith was the daughter of the late Harry and Edith Davis Lewis.  She was the best friend and cherished wife of Joseph W. Ritter for 68 years, until his death in 2015. Her happiest moments were those spent with the family she raised alongside her husband.  Her Welsh heritage was a lifelong source of pride.

Edith will be remembered for her beautiful flower gardens and her gift of crafting and painting.  She especially loved to sing and could never leave a song unfinished. Words cannot describe the loving care Edith showed to each of her children and grandchildren.  The unconditional love she gave to all is irreplaceable.  The most important and treasured legacy she leaves behind is a deep personal faith in her Savior Jesus Christ.

Edith was blessed to be survived by her three loving children, Karen Mullaney and her husband, Edward, Chalfont, Pa.; Joyce Reese, Mount Cobb, Pa.; and Daniel Ritter and his wife Deborah, Mount Cobb, Pa.; as well as six beautiful grandchildren, Paula Kovacs and her husband, Dwayne, Doylestown, Pa.; Michael Sohanic and his wife, Tricia, Doylestown, Pa.; Maria Hazen and her husband, Nathan, Lake Ariel, Pa.; Russell Reese and his wife, Crystal, Allentown, Pa.; Kevin Ritter, Mount Cobb, Pa.; and Marissa Ritter, Lake Ariel, Pa.  She will also be remembered with love by her 11 great-grandchildren, other family members, and caring friends.

Her family is grateful to Dr. Eric DeWarren and Heartland Hospice for their kindness and loving care; Denise Krenitsky, Donna Tini, and Edith’s favorite nurse Elizabeth Hauser for their outstanding attention and compassion; and Chaplain David O’Brien for his faithful prayers and encouragement.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, with the Rev. Willard Black officiating.  Interment, Maplewood Evangelical Cemetery, Maplewood.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Edith to the Elmdale Bible Church, 1532 Mount Cobb Road, Jefferson Twp., PA 18436.
