Edmund Cunard, Jr.

Edmund Cunard, Jr, 79 of Scranton, passed away on Thursday, November 20th at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, following an illness. He was "Butch" to family and friends (and, sometimes, to his chagrin), and Eddie (or "Fast Eddie") to others.

Born in Pittston, Pa, he was the son of the late Edmund J. and Thelma (McDonald) Cunard. After spending three years in the Army he became a "jack of all trades," doing anything, including truck driving, bartending, stable work, contracting, and golf course maintenance, among other odds and ends. He enjoyed motorcycles, martial arts, billiards, golf, poker, and classic movies (surprisingly, his childhood idol was Fred Astaire, even if he mostly watched western, martial arts, and war films in his later years). 

Surviving is his son Edmund J. Cunard of Lucernemines, Pa; Uncle Richard "Skip" McDonald of Scranton, Pa; as well as many other cousins among the Cunard, McDonald, and Barletta families. 

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
