Elizabeth (Betty) Janetta Arscott, 93, passed away Monday morning at home following an illness. She was the widow of Edward Arscott who passed away in 2006.
Betty was born July 24, 1932 in Scranton and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Pugh Jones. She was a 1948 graduate of the West Scranton High School and went on to work at the Scranton Lace Works, where she would meet her husband Edward. She later worked as a proof operator at the former West Scranton Bank until her retirement.
A woman of deep faith, she was a lifelong member of the Embury United Methodist Church and was active in various committees and organizations within the church. Betty and Edward enjoyed a life filled with travel, country line dancing, and weekends at their camper at Secluded Acres Campground.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Margaret Woody and her husband Thomas of Taylor; her son Dr. James Arscott and his wife Dr. Karen Arscott of Waverly; grandchildren James Arscott, Maureen Ross-MacCormack and husband Charles Fraser Ross-MacCormack, Sophia Arscott; great granddaughter Alaina Arscott, and great grandson Milo Maldonato; great grandson Charles Desmond Ross-MacCormack and great granddaughter Harper Jane Ross- MacCormack; nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter Shannon Bickauskas; brother Thomas Jones and sister Peggy Ann Chivers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 11:00 AM at Embury United Methodist Church 942 S. Main Ave Scranton officiated by Rev. Eric Luczak, pastor.
Friends may call Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
Interment, Private at the convenience of the family.
