Elizabeth M. Madsen

Elizabeth M. Madsen, 91, of Cortez, passed away Thursday, December 19th at home with her family by her side. Her loving husband of 69 years is John Madsen.

Born in Teaneck, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lotte Engle Fast. She was a graduate of Bogota High School, Bogota NJ. She was a longtime member of the Cortez United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for many years.

Liz enjoyed being a homeworker and worked beside John for many years on their farm.

Also surviving are her daughters Jody Rutkowski and her husband Wally, and Jill Brink, all of Cortez; grandchildren Joshua Butler, Wally Rutkowski and his wife Amanda, and Mackenzie Brink; great-grandchildren Katelin Dennis, Joshua and Jayden Butler, Sophie Brink, Jayce Rutkowski, Evan and Ian Ronchi; great-great granddaughter’s Adelin and Aubrie Hendrickson.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Tom Brink.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center and HHCP Hospice nurses Judy and Lisa for their outstanding care of Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
