Elizabeth A. Shaffer

Elizabeth A. Shaffer, 91 of Lake Ariel, passed away Tuesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital following an illness. Her loving husband of 54 years, Russell Shaffer passed away in 2022.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Mildred Rude- Thomas. She was a graduate of Waymart High School. Prior to retirement, she worked as a riveter on military airplanes during the Korean War. She also had a hot dog stand and baked for summer farm markets.

Surviving are a daughter Bonnie Engle and her husband Larry of Newville, Pa; sons Thomas R. Shamon and his wife Gina of Rochester, NY, and Richard E. Shamon and his wife Maria of Jessup; 5 grandchildren; 2 great – grandchildren; a brother Jeffery Thomas of Harrisburg; a sister Clara Montone of Carbondale; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by daughters Kimberly Shaffer and Deborah Shamon

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
