Elsie I. Stevens Beemer

Elsie Stevens of Sterling passed Monday evening at home. Her husband was Albert E. Stevens who died in 2007.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Asher and Cora Decker Beemer, she worked as a school bus driver for 38 years at Caruth Bus Lines, Moscow.

She was a member of the Sterling United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Elsie worked alongside her husband and children on the family dairy and produce farm.

Surviving children are Janet Gilpin and husband James of South Sterling, Douglas Stevens and companion Deb Hertzog of Sterling, Sandra Leonard of Tobyhanna, Patricia Stevens of Sterling, Daniel Stevens and wife Kim of South Sterling, Michael Stevens and wife Wendy of Sterling, Steven Stevens and Richard Stevens, both of Sterling, and daughter in-law Noel Stevens of Greentown. Elsie was preceded in death by her son Albert A Stevens.

Elsie was blessed with nine Grandchildren, Christa, Deidra, Douglas, Travis, Dustin, Courtney, Andrew, Kevin and Caden and four Great Grandchildren, Bela, Julie, Ava and Joseph.

Surviving siblings are Catherine Green, Lorraine Johnson, Gloria Beemer, Carol Beemer and Robert Beemer.

She was preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Gaus, Donald Beemer, Chauncy Beemer, and Barbara Hess.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Friends may call Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and Saturday from 9:00-10:00am.

Interment, Sterling Cemetery, Sterling.
