Emma S. Collins, 98, of Lords Valley, and a former resident of the Green Ridge section of Scranton for 45 years, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday with her daughter by her side. Her husband of 40 years was the late Clyde A. Collins, M.D.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Michael and Pearl Matika Sadowske, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School and a member of the Monastery Church of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk, its Theological Seminary Century Association and the Fellowship of Orthodox Stewards, O.C.A.
She was a Past President of the Parliamentary Law Club of Scranton and was appointed and confirmed as the Parliamentarian presenting lessons on parliamentary procedure. She served in that capacity for 30 years. Also, she was a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians, Past President of the Theta Unit N.A.P., a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Parliamentarians and member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians.
She was also Past President of the Lackawanna County Federation of Woman’s Clubs and the Federation of Republican Women. She was the former Director of the Pennsylvania Council of Republican Women.
She was a former Girl Scout Leader and Board Member of the Scranton-Pocono Council of Girl Scouts. She was a former trustee of the Scranton School for the Deaf and a former director of the Friendship House.
She was also and a member of the Lackawanna County Medical Society Alliance and the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are a daughter Daria Schneider (Steven) of Newtown Square, PA; a sister Alice Boga of Scranton; a niece Daria Bancala (Bert) the Villages, Florida; a nephew William Boga, III of Gettysburg, PA; a godson Wayne Boga (Cheryl) of Chinchilla; a goddaughter Alison Boga of Scranton; 4 great-nephews and 1 great-niece.
She was preceded in death by a brother Daniel Sadoske and sisters Mary Andreychik and Vera Bancala.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Clarks Summit Senior Living and Wayne Woodlands Manor for their kind and compassionate care.
Funeral Liturgy and Interment will be private at the Monastery Church of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk.
