Obituary

Ernest J. Miller, of South Canaan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2026.

Ernest was born on January 3, 1937, in the family home in South Canaan. He was the son of the late Jesse and Mary Emery Miller. He was a lifelong and devoted member and former deacon of Canaan Bible Chapel.

Ernest honorably served in the Pennsylvania National Guard and was employed for many years as a lineman with the South Canaan Telephone Company.

He was the beloved husband of the former Lois Geier. At the time of Lois's passing, they had enjoyed 54 years of marriage together.

Ernest was a gentle, soft-spoken man, much like his father, and his quiet presence brought strength and comfort to those around him. He was devoted to walking with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and his faith was the foundation of his life. Above all else, he cherished his family and desired that each of them would come to know the Savior he loved.

He loved being outdoors and walking through the woods surrounding the home and property he had built, a place that was deeply connected to his family heritage. He enjoyed working on projects around the yard, especially when he could put his tractors to work.

He took great joy in watching his children and grandchildren grow and was always there to support them and attend their many activities and events. He loved singing gospel hymns, and his quiet, understated sense of humor often brought a smile and a laugh to those who knew him. Though he was a man of few words, his family, friends, and neighbors knew they could always depend on him.

Ernest is survived by his daughters, Linda Howell and her husband, Randy, and Karen Khattari; and his son, Kurt Miller. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Kristen Mulnix, Alisha Summa, Alexia Mendez, Jesse Miller, and Emaleigh Miller; and four great-grandchildren, Evelina and Esmee Mulnix, Grant Summa, and Sara Mendez.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Lois, Lenore, and Randy.
