Eugene D. Bacorn, 87, of Scranton passed away peacefully Friday at Allied Skilled Nursing and Hospice. 

Born November 5th, 1938 in Scranton, Gene was the eldest son of the late Eugene and Helen Selgrade Bacorn, and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He was a United States Air Force veteran and part of the strategic air command serving from 1956 to 1960. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Scranton. 

Gene was employed as a correctional officer at Graterford Correctional Facility in the Philadelphia area for 25 years. He received several commendations during that time. 

Gene was a wonderful brother and uncle. He was very kind and generous, a friend to all. Being an avid motorcyclist, he was a life member of the AMA. Having ridden motorcycles from the age of 17 to 82, he also enjoyed hunting and was a life member of the NRA. 

Also surviving are a sister Margaret Bacorn Herie, Scranton, a brother John J. Bacorn and wife Mary Ann, Peckville, several nieces and a nephew. 

He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Peter F. Herie. 

The family would like to give thanks to Geisinger Hospital, Oakwood Terrace Memory Care and the staff at Allied Skilled Nursing and Hospice. 

Funeral services will be Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1PM in Saint Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton. Friends may call from Noon until the start of Mass. Interment with military honors will be at Abington Hills Cemetery.
