Evelyn Louise Powell

Evelyn “Lynn” Powell, 75, of The Hideout died Sunday evening at Forest City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born December 6, 1944 in Rockville Centre, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Martha Oehler Powell. She was a graduate of Copiague High School, Copiague, NY and earned her Bachelor Degree from State University of New York College at Oswego. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree from Kean University, Union, NJ. Prior to retirement, Evelyn taught in West Orange, NJ school system for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hawley, Pa.

Evelyn love animals of all kinds, particularly cats. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and singing and was a member of the Black Bear Women’s Choir.

Surviving are her sister Marie E. Powell of Lake Ariel; 17 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Richard, Robert, Charles, and Walter.

Private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
