Frances P Kingsley, Lake Ariel, passed away Thursday evening in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit with her family by her side.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years Robert D. Kingsley, Jr.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Hopkins Wedlock. She was a graduate of the former West Scranton Catholic High School and went on to attend East Stroudsburg University. Upon her entrance into the workforce Fran held managerial positions in sales development and corporate sales for both the Sears Corporation as well as Caesars in their Pocono division. She went on to retire from the Gertrude Hawk Company as the retail human resources manager.
After retirement, Fran volunteered her time generously with both the Wayne County Senior Citizen Center as well as the IHM Center to help care for The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Very proud of her Irish heritage she was a member of the LAOH Society of Irish Women where she served as vice president as well as the Wayne County business and professional women's club. Fran had deep religious faith and was a devoted parishioner of the St Thomas More St Mary's Parish Community and was active in many of the church's organizations.
Fran was an avid sports enthusiast who found great joy in following and cheering on her favorite teams. She especially enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, proudly supporting the Fighting Irish and sharing in the excitement of each game. Her passion for sports was just one of the many things that brought her happiness and gave her opportunities to connect with family and friends.
Also surviving are her son Robert Desmond Kingsley III , her daughters Kelly Wyatt and her husband Tom, and Maureen Zimmerman and her husband Darin; grandchildren, Sean and Katie Wyatt, Madelyn Zimmerman: Sister Barb McNulty and her husband Tim; brother-in-law Tom Smith; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings John Wedlock, Charles Wedlock and his wife, Sally, Maryann Smith and Paul Wedlock and his wife Phyllis
The Family would also like to express their thanks to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care in Frans final hours.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 12 at 10 AM in the St Thomas More Church 105 Gravity Rd., Lake Ariel.
The family will receive friends from 9 AM until the time of Mass on Saturday morning at St Thomas More.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Frans name to the American Cancer Society.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ledgedale.
