Frederick A. Jaggars, Lake Ariel, passed away early Thursday morning in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at the Geisinger Community Medical Center after an illness. His wife of 55 years was the former Sandra Schwartztrauber who passed away in 2010.

Born in 1934, he was the son of the late Merel F. and Irene Chapman Jaggars, Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of the Lake Consolidated School and was a member of Cross Road Assembly of God Church, Elmhurst. Prior to his retirement, Fred had been employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot as a Radar Technician and was also retired from Western Wayne School District. He was a Navy veteran.

Fred loved hunting, the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter Charlene Purnell, husband Keith of Holmen, WI; sons Fred Jaggars of Lake Ariel, Rev. Barry Jaggars and wife Penny of Waymart, David Jaggars and wife Eileen of Lake Ariel and Randy Jaggars and wife Jill of Madisonville; brothers Merel Jaggars, Jr. and wife Audrey and Warren Jaggars and wife Linda all of South Canaan; ten grandchildren Jeromy, Jennifer, Danielle, Lindsay, Damon, Lucas, Christy, Nick, Daniel and Rebecca; one great grandson Derek; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10am in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by his son Rev. Barry Jaggars and Rev. Ron Liples.

Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm.

Interment, East Canaan Cemetery.
