Obituary

Frederick J. Schaller, 93, of Scranton, passed away on Sunday, May 17th at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. His wife of 39 years is the former Helen Zabriskie. 

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick and Jean Prime - Schaller. Prior to retirement, Fred was a Metal Mechanic for Pan American Airways. He was a member of the Avoy Christian Church. Fred volunteered for over 25 years with the Truck Stop Memories, was a Friend of Bill for over 30 years and supported countless people on their road to recovery. 

Fred enjoyed participating in Bible Studies, traveling, golfing, and old movies. He was an avid Mets fan, when they were winning. 

Fred enjoyed with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Also surviving are his children Christopher Schaller and his wife Laura of Colorado, Ricky Schaller of Staten Island, Linda Smith of Old Forge, Michelle Simon and her husband Christopher of Greentown, John Monsees, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Hawley, and Alfred Casella, III and his wife Sarah of Marlboro; his sister Lois Wehrmeister of Texas; 19 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his son Frederick "Freddy" Schaller; sister Jean Emmerling; brother Theodore Schaller. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 24th at 1:00PM in the James Wilson Funeral, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Pastor Sean Leonard, Avoy Christian Church. 

Friends may call on Sunday from 11:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
