George Lutz, Scranton, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Geisinger Community Medical Center after being stricken ill. His wife of 62 years is the former Barbara Hoffman.

George was born October 24th, 1938, in Scranton and was the son of Edward and Dorothea Shoe Lutz. He attended Dunmore schools and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He was employed by the Chamberlain Manufacturing Plant in Scranton and retired after over 35 years of service.

George served our country honorably in the United States Air Force as well as the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Also surviving are his son Timothy Lutz and his wife Tanya; his daughters Luann Holmes and her husband Timothy, Lynn Allen and her husband Stuart, and Kimberly Walter and her husband Michael; half-brothers Edward Lutz and David Lutz and his wife Renee; Step sister Marie Thomas; Grandchildren Robert, Amanda, Christopher Lutz and his wife Brooke, Megan and Ambrosia Stancik, Dorothea, Rebecca, Megan and partner Rob Lampman, Matthew and Nicholas Gallagher and Kyle Holmes, Brandon Swartz and Broden Allen; great grandchildren Riley, Bailey, Aubrianna, Leon, Madison, MaKenna, Colten, Presten, Emily, and Oliver.

He was also preceded in death by his sister Beverly Evans and stepbrother Ralph Genello.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 13th at 10 AM in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Funeral Home.

Interment with military honors will be held in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions in the names of George and Smokey to be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
