Gerald E. Hutchins, 87, of Maplewood, passed away Wednesday morning at home, surrounded by his family. His wife of 63 years, the former Eugenia Appel passed away in 2022.
Born in Elmhurst, he was the son of the late Leroy and Bertha Swingle – Hutchins. Prior to retirement, he was an autobody man. Gerald was an avid Philadelphia Philles fan and enjoyed playing horseshoes. He loved his family and especially his son-in-law Eugene Black.
Surviving are his daughters Pamela Long and her companion Coles Allen of Tafton and Donna Black and her husband Eugene of Maplewood; sons Daniel Hutchins and his companion Jen Yarborough of Hollisterville and Mark Hutchins and his wife Angel of Waymart; 10 grandchildren; 12 great – grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Freda Leader and Susan Higgins; brothers Bob, Doug, Steve, and Ronnie Hutchins.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the Green Ridge Healthcare Center.
