Obituary

Hilda Chapman, 85, of Lake Ariel, died Tuesday evening at home. Her husband of 55 years, Donald "Sam" Chapman died in 2014.

Born in Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late John and Sophie Michl. She was a graduate of Greene Dreher Sterling High School. Hilda worked at her family's business, Panther Lodge, and at a dress factory in Hamlin. She later joined her husband and son at the family business, Chapman Insurance, in Hamlin for over 30 years.

She was an avid bowler and loved playing cards, especially pinochle which she played several times a week with her son until her passing. More than anything in life, she loved her grandchildren Alex and Jamie, as well as her numerous pets. She loved spending time with the boys when they were younger; on Saturday nights, Sunday dinners, weekly sleepovers, and taking them shopping to buy them Auntie Anne's pretzels and whatever Lego set they wanted.

Surviving are a daughter, Teri Crisp and her husband, Ken, of Baltimore, MD; a son, Brian and his wife, Andy, of Lake Ariel; a sister Helen Manning, of Lemoyne, Pa; grandsons, Alex and Jamie Chapman; several nieces and nephews, and her cats, Kip and Bella.

She was preceded in death by a son, James.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers that helped Hilda throughout the past few years so she could continue living in her home, especially Lynn, Christine, Penny, Nancy, Kelly, and Tikvah. Additional thanks to HireLivin, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and St Mary's Villa.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00AM in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd., Lake Ariel, with services by her sister-in-law Pastor Wendy D'Agostino.
