Irene Weitzel

Irene Weitzel, Lake Ariel, passed away Tuesday night in the Wayne Woodlands Manor after an illness. She was the widow of William Weitzel who passed away in 2008.

Irene was born in July 30, 1943 in Scranton. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Nelly Sheerer Beavers and attended school at the Lake consolidated school in Lake Ariel. A woman of deep faith, she was a member of the Hollisterville Bible Church.

Irene was a woman who always put others first. She supported her husband in his long naval career and was proud to travel with him in all of his assignments. In 1969 she was nominated for Navy Seabee Queen and was flown to Puerto Rico for the celebration. Irene was also awarded a certificate of appreciation from the United States Navy in 1976 for her unselfish, faithful and devotion during her husbands military career. She was most proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Whether it was taking family trips together or just a short phone call each day to check in. Irene will now be reunited with the love of her life. Her family will miss her very dearly.

Surviving is her beloved family, daughter, Debra Doyle, and son, William Weitzel and his wife Suzanne; grandchildren LaShanda Rosengrant and her husband Ryan and Joshua Doyle and his wife Toonny; sisters, Shirley Berger and her husband Ronald and Esther Kizer; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday at Noon in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with Rev. James Sheridan officiating.

Friends may call Monday morning from 10am until the time of the service.

Interment, private and at the convenience of the family.
