Jane A. Ovens, Jefferson Township, passed away Friday morning at her home surrounded by her family after an illness. She was the widow of William Ovens who passed away in 2001.
Jane was born in 1938 in Carbondale and was the daughter of the late George and Helen Bossack Robinson. She was a graduate of the Waymart High School. Jane and her sister Louise were known as the "South Canaan Sweethearts". Together they played guitar and sang weekly on radio station WCDL in Honesdale PA. She had been a member of the Cortez United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement she had been employed by Katz Manufacturing for over 30 years and then went on to become the owner of Jane's snack shop and gas station in Elmhurst.
Surviving are her former husband Robert Frisbie; her son Roger R Frisbie and his wife Ann of Springbrook Township and their children Alex Frisbie and his wife Samantha and their children Owen and Nora as well as Ryan Frisbie and his wife Claire and their children Erin, Liam and Fiona; daughter Donna Harkins and her former husband Michael and their daughter Chealsey Harkins; Walter Frisbie and his former wife Karen and their children Keryn and Emily; sister Bessie Palmer; sister in law Lorraine Robinson , widow of Thomas Robinson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her sister Marie Dragwa and her husband Joseph, Thomas Robinson, Louise Cummings and her husband Harold, Francis Robinson and his wife Beverly, Paul Robinson, Jerry Robinson, David Robinson and his wife Mary Ann, Clarence Robinson, and Richard Robinson and his wife Heidi.
The family would like to offer their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Jane's dear sister Bessie, Doctor Neal Davis, the staff of the Compassionate Care Hospice of NEPA and Maureen "Cricket" Venizelos for the wonderful and dedicated care they offered to Jane in her final days.
A brief graveside service will be held Thursday at 3pm in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst officated by Rev. John Craig.
The family encourages family and friends to join them for a BBQ on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm in celebration of Jane's life at the Cortez VFW Post 6520 846 Cortez Rd. Jefferson Twp., PA 18436. Should you plan on attending please contact Jane's daughter Donna at 570-909-7900.
Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
