Jean M. Black, 74, of Lake Ariel, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center following an illness.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Lowell C.B. Black and Betty Corey – Black. She was a graduate of Lake Consolidated School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hollisterville. Prior to retirement, she was the secretary for Black’s 84 Diesel.
Jean was well known for sending heartfelt cards for anniversaries, birthdays, holidays and special occasions. She also enjoyed crafting with plastic canvas and collecting angels.
Surviving are sisters Linda Smith and her husband Carlton of South Canaan and Elaine Chapman and her husband James of Lake Ariel; brothers James Black and his wife Betsy of Maplewood and Joseph Black and his wife Roberta of Hollisterville; several close friends, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her nephew Jonathan Black and stepmother Edith Black.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 27 th , at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Hollisterville located at 23 Pond Rd., Moscow, officiated by Pastor James Sheridan.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
