Jean L. Upright, of Carbondale, died Friday at Regional Hospital of Scranton, following an illness.
Born in Lake Ariel, Pa, daughter of the late Alvin and Ruth Ransom Swingle, prior to retirement she was a Nurses Aid at Carbondale Nursing Home.
Jean was known for her ability to look on the bright side and find excitement in the little things. Her sense of humor never faded and it was impossible not to laugh when with her. She easily brightened the day of anyone who crossed her path. She was known by everyone and touched the lives of everyone she knew. Mimi was her most beloved nickname.
Surviving are daughters Claudia Kerylovicz of Waymart, Pandora Yates of Carbondale, and Linda Enslin and her husband Timothy “Doc” of Lake Ariel; a sister Sharon Wheeler of Moscow; brothers Clyde Swingle of Hawley and Bruce Swingle of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Tom, Michelle, Lisa, Jennica, Jason, Gary, Angelica, and Erin; 10 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a son Rusty Upright.
A Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00am in the James Wilson Funeral Home, Inc, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel with services by Rev. Bill Schneider, Pastor of Faith Baptist Fellowship Church.
Friends may call from 9:00am until time of service at the funeral home.
Interment, East Canaan Cemetery, South Canaan.
