John J. Heuberger (Poppi) (Heuy) passed away September 29th peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents Katherine and John Heuberger and brother Joseph Heuberger of New York.
He was the loving husband of 53 years to Janet Graham Heuberger (Mooma). He enjoyed vacationing, especially to the islands where he could wear his speedos, spending time with his family and friends, his lawn, the casino, music, especially the Beatles.
He is survived by his daughter Carrie, his son Andy and partner Tara, his loving brother James, and wife Lorraine, his nieces Emily and Caitlin, his nephew Jeremy, grandkids Cyrah and Kayne, his special niece Jennifer Greco, and her family, great nieces, and his best friend and shining star grandson Thomas Chernasky. John and Thomas had a special unbreakable bond.
John and Janet spent their time cuddling, traveling, sharing stories, spending every moment together, and giving much love to friends and family.
John was a proud veteran and proud American.
John was from Flushing, Queens, where he graduated from Saint Helena, Queens Community College and Queens College and joining the Navy. In his 43 year career with the government, he worked for the Navy, the Marines, the Veterans Association, and ultimately retiring from the Defense Logistics Agency at Tobyhanna at 2014 as the deputy commander of DLA distribution.
In his 43 years of service he received many awards and medals including the Distinguished Order of Saint Martin, the Army Award for Civilian Service, honored by Vice President Al Gore with the National Partnership for Reinventing Government Award, Commanders Award for Civilian Service.
John was a proud, respected man, and member of the community.
