John R. “Jack Dowse, Sr

John R. “Jack Dowse, Sr.,of Hamlin, passed away Friday morning at home. His wife of 44years the former Joyce Miller Dowse passed away in May 2010

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late George, Sr. and Katherine Wells Dowse. A United States Army Veteran, Jack was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. Prior to his retirement, Jack was employed by ABF Trucking. He was a truck driver for 42 years and he received many safe driver awards. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving a son John, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Lake Ariel, Pa; two daughters Tammy Martin and her husband Sam of Lakeville, Pa. and Heidi Schultz and her husband Rob of Peckville, Pa.; Grandchildren: Ryan Martin, Marissa Dowse, Hayley and Heather Schultz; three sisters: Shirley, Nancy, and Ardith; A brother George, Jr.; nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth.

Entombment will be private at the request of the family.
