John Robert Nicholson

Emblem

This week we said goodbye to a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a loyal friend to many.

John Robert Nicholson was an outdoorsman at heart who loved spending time in the woods or on the water. He was a master carpenter who built and renovated countless homes over more than three decades in the industry. He was a barbecue master who provided some of the best food for so many back yard parties and events all around our area. He enjoyed spending time in Maine, which was like his second home and a place he one day dreamed of retiring. He loved to clear his mind with a long motorcycle ride. He loved a glass of whiskey with good steak, but most of all he loved and cherished his family.

Unfortunately he lost a battle with cancer, after only a few short months. He left us peacefully, at home, in his favorite chair, with his devoted wife by his side.

I believe he new it was his time but held on as long as he could for our sake. We want to thank all the family and friends that have supported us during these difficult times.

For those of you that did not know about his condition, I apologize. My father chose to keep his fight relatively discrete, as he has always been a very proud man.

We take comfort in knowing that he joins both his parents, his mother in law, and all of his friends that went before him. The only other thing I can say is, I hope heaven is ready, because when he meets up with all his friends It's going to be one hell of a party. Love you Pop. We will always watch over Mom and continue to do our best to make you proud.

John leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Charlene; son Matthew and daughter in law Kristin; son Ehric and daughter in law Samantha; Granddaughters Shawna and Emma; sister Cindy and brother in law Rodman; his brother Brian;  countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Janet Nicholson, and mother in law Helen Allem.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
