John Rellis

November 30, 1945 — June 15, 2022

John Rellis

John “Jack” Rellis, South Canaan, passed away early Wednesday morning at his home with his family by his side.   His wife of 32 years is the former Grace Nagengast.

Born 1945 in Mineola, New York, he was the son of the late John and Anna Maerz Rellis.   Prior to moving to South Canaan Jack was very active with the Ronkonoma Fire Department in New York.  Prior to his retirement he had been employed as an automotive mechanic as well as a machinist.

Jack was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.   He loved to listen to his radio on his porch and loved his home in South Canaan, especially his back yard.   He will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Allied Services Home Hospice for the dedicated and compassionate care they afforded Jack while he was in their care.

Also surviving are children John Rellis and his wife Susan of Connecticut, Maureen Ekdahl of Scranton, Jeffrey Rellis and his wife Kelly of Long Island and Melissa Williams and her husband Lawrence of Hamlin;  grandchildren Michael, Christopher, Katie, LJ, Jack, Nicole, Dylan, Rachel, Paul,  Cole, Emma and Peyton;  great grandchildren Juliette, Everleigh and Eli;  sisters Barbara McCarty, MaryAnn Kincaid and Debbie Jarvis;  nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Karl Ekdahl who passed away in June of 2020.

Friends may call Friday from 4-7pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel, PA.

Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Allied Services Hospice 511 Morgan Highway Scranton, PA 18508.
