John J. Scimeca of Lake Ariel passed away Wednesday at home following an illness.
Born in Patchogue, NY, son of the late Salvatore and Dolores Cohn Scimeca. He had a lot of odd jobs over the years, but most notably was self-employed, owning his own bread route. He was hardworking and skilled, a regular handy man. He enjoyed traveling, particularly in his RV, nature and collecting. He had a love for dogs (surviving is his boy, Buddy) as well as food. His favorite occasions would be spending time with close family around the holidays or just because; eating, drinking and laughing. He may have been born a ball-buster, with a hint of sarcasm, but these moments truly filled his heart with joy. Whether he’d outright admit or not, there was no hiding that fact.
Surviving are a daughter Alyssa Scimeca of Archbald, PA; a son Ryan and his wife Elizabeth of Norristown, PA; sisters Esther Lupski and her husband Ronald of Mastic, NY, Rebecca Anselmo and her husband Frank of East Quogue, NY, Sally Calabrese of Mastic, NY; a brother Peter and his wife Susan of Port Jefferson, NY; a special nephew Justin Calabrese; a life-long friend Diane Graham of Scranton, PA
Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
