Joseph P. Fornabaio

Joseph P. Fornabaio, 90, of The Hideout, Lake Ariel, passed away Tuesday afternoon at his home following an illness. His wife of 60 years, the former Vilma Lukovits passed away in 2019.

Born July 15, 1934 in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Phillip and Florence LaFazia – Fornabaio. He was a graduate of Dewitt Clinton High School. Prior to retirement, Joseph was a Detective Sergeant in the New York City Police Department where he served for 35 years. He was also a former National Guardsman. In his younger days Joe was an avid golfer and tennis player and until his passing enjoyed little more than a good cigar and a dry vodka martini.

Surviving are his daughter Lisa McKenna of Lake Ariel; sons Phillip Fornabaio and his wife Stacey of LaGrange, NY, and Joseph Fornabaio and his wife Carina of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Nicholas, Julianna, Joseph and his wife Kayla; great grandsons Joseph, Ayden and Grayson; 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Gerard McKenna.

Private cremation took place at the Lake Region Crematory in the James Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 14th at 2:00PM in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road. Lake Ariel, Pa.

Friends may call on Friday, September 13th from 5:00PM – 7:00PM and Saturday, September 14th from 12:00PM until 2:00PM in the funeral home.
