Joseph Daniel Walsh

Joseph Daniel Walsh, beloved son, cousin, nephew, friend, and beacon of kindness, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, May 30th, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity. Born in 1960, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Hopkins Walsh, "Little Joe”, as he was lovingly called by close family and friends, lived in Williamsport, PA until the age of 6, when his family moved to North Scranton. He was a 1978 graduate of Bishop Hannan High School

Joe's heart was as big as his smile, touching everyone he met with his kind nature and friendliness. He was a human GPS – if you needed directions, he was your man! His generosity knew no bounds-he was always ready to give his time, his hands for a comforting massage, or even his last dollar to someone in need. He appeared innocent, but Joe had a sharp mind and quick wit. His signature gesture was gifting chocolate roses to the women in his life, a small token of his boundless affection.

A devoted friend to many, Joe held a special place in his heart for his best friend and caretaker, his "number 1," Cousin Linn, whom he surprised with a bag of Lifesavers, a playful nod to the countless times she saved his life. Joe's love spread beyond people to animals, whom he adored and cared for deeply, always finding joy in their companionship.

Joe's selflessness extended to his final act as an organ donor, undoubtedly saving a life and continuing his legacy of giving.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 17th at 10:00 AM in St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Avenue.

Interment, Private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to be made to Friends with Paws Pet Rescue, 1443 Sanderson Ave, Scranton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton.
