June Genell

June passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, surrounded by her family in her childhood home, at the age of 74. She was born August 19th, 1950 in Scranton, PA, as the youngest daughter of Reese and Lillian Powell.

June was the embodiment of strength and loyalty… Compassion and kindness. Her family was her world. Having no children of her own, she referred to all her nieces and nephews as “her kids”. She lead her family with matriarchal grace. Our family is devastated by the loss of our beloved wife, sister, and aunt.

Those who knew June, knew she had a quick wit and light-hearted spirit. She was the family’s fashionista, and enjoyed dining with friends Eve and Lisa, and going to the casino. She was a 1968 graduate of Scranton Tech. She was no stranger to staying busy and maintaining a strong work ethic, as she worked in the office of Starr Uniform for the last 20 years.

Surviving her, are her husband Anthony Genell; her sister, Mary Jane Lydon; and cousin Jennifer Meehan. Also surviving are her nephew Dr. Paul M. Lydon; niece Rachael E. Lydon and fiancé Lee Houser; great-niece Kirsten M. Lydon and fiancé Matthew Falcone; great-nephew Kyle M. Lydon and fiancé Taryn Wells; great nephews Cooper M. and Finnian P. Lydon; and great-great niece and nephew, Lillith R. and Haydn J. Falcone. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Germaine Genell, brother-in-law Charlie Genell, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
