Kathryn "Lynn" Whiting, of Lake Ariel, PA, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and devoted pets, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She faced her illness with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience, always putting her family first and living life on her own terms.
Born on June 30, 1962, Lynn spent most of her life on Long Island, NY, before moving to Pennsylvania. She built a successful career in real estate and rose to become a distinguished Director of Property Management for a prominent New York City firm. Her leadership and expertise earned her industry-wide respect and recognition in publications.
Beyond her career, Lynn will be remembered for her boundless generosity and compassion. She dedicated years to rescuing and caring for animals in need, particularly feral cats, and gave a second chance at life to many. Lynn also had a sharp wit and zest for life, and always kept it interesting, often saying, "at least I wasn't boring".
She believed in giving back and supported multiple charitable organizations throughout her life. In recent months, she was especially passionate about the work of World Central Kitchen, reflecting her deep care for people and communities in need.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Laura Malone, and Don Malone; loving nieces and nephews: Nora Whiting and Jarrod Gordon; Michael Malone; Kevin Malone; David Malone; Lauren and Michael Chay, and their daughter, Kairi Chay. She will also be deeply missed by her cherished pets Milo, Suzy, Buddy, and Sonny.
Lynn's legacy is one of strength, generosity, and love. She leaves behind family and friends who will carry her memory forward with gratitude for the time they shared.
A memorial luncheon will be held at a later date to celebrate Lynn's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to an animal rescue organization or to World Central Kitchen.
