Kenneth E. Hollister

Kenneth E. Hollister, a lifelong resident of Sterling, passed away Tuesday afternoon in the St. Mary’s Villa Nursing Home surrounded by his family.  His wife Christine Bradshaw Hollister passed away in 2007.  At the time of her passing the couple had been married 44 years.

Born 1941 in Sterling, Kenneth was the son of the late Edmund and Esther Parry Hollister. He was a member of the Jericho Independent Church.  Prior to his retirement he had been employed as heavy equipment operator , a truck driver and for Caruth Bus Company as a school bus driver.  He was a United States Army Veteran.

Surviving are children Christine Major and her husband George, Edward Hollister, Kenneth Hollister and his wife Sharon, Homer Hollister and his wife Kim and SheriLynn Murray and her husband Jeffrey;  daughter in law Carol Hollister; twenty grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; siblings Dorothy Lutz, Robert Hollister and Barbara Walton; nieces and nephews; his companion of 15 years Kathryn Kinney.

He was also preceded in death by siblings Charlotte Schaffer, Rebecca Swingle, Lois Jeffreys and Homer Hollister

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care that Ken was given during his stay at St. Marys Villa.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am in the Jericho Independent Bible Church 289 Sterling Rd. Newfoundland, PA 18445 by Reverend William Henwood, Pastor.

Friends may call Tuesday from 10am until time of service in the church

In lieu of flowers the family strongly encourages memorial contributions be made to Saint Marys Villa Saint Marys Villa Rd., Elmhurst Township, PA 18444 or to the Jericho independent church 289 Sterling Rd., Newfoundland PA 18445.
