Kimball Mountjoy, born on August 16, 1932, in Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2025, due to natural causes. Raised on Long Island and in Canandaigua, New York, Kim pursued higher education at Yale University before relocating to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he contributed to establishing the family farm, a remarkable expanse of 14,000 acres. He moved to Chicago in 1962 where he worked for United Airlines and earned his Masters of Business Administration at University of Chicago.
In 1970, Kim married his beloved wife, Ann. The couple settled in Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, where they dedicated their lives to nurturing their three daughters, Jennifer, Sarah, and Kathy. Throughout his life, Kim was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church of Dundee, where he served as deacon, trustee, and moderator. His commitment to his community extended to the Dundee Library Board and the Village of Sleepy Hollow board.
An avid reader with diverse interests, Kim found joy in his family, landscape gardening, classical music, and identifying birds and trees. His passion for nature was reflected in his thoughtful design of both his homes in Illinois and Pennsylvania, ensuring they harmonized beautifully with their natural surroundings. After retiring from his position in Operations Research at United Airlines, he returned to the family farm on the Louisiana-Arkansas border, where he continued to manage its operations.
Kimball Mountjoy is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Mountjoy, and their daughters, Jennifer Grabow and Sarah Sullivan; his twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, community, and his love for the natural world. Cremation took place on April 8, 2025 in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania.
Kimball was preceded in death by: His parents, Garrard Mountjoy & Mary Mountjoy; his sister, Maryann Blackmon; and his daughter, Katherine Nunes.
