Lloyd Ralph “Skip” Kramer, 82, of Jefferson Twp., passed away peacefully at home April 11, 2024, of advanced Alzheimer’s and cardiac complications. He was married to Karen S. (King) Kramer. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last October.

Born in Dover, N.J., he was the son of the late Irene (Frisbie) DelGuercio and Ralph H. Kramer. He graduated from Central High School, Scranton, Pa., class of 1960. After attending Penn State University and Holiday Inn Innkeeper’s School, he served as manager of several Holiday Inns and Sheratons throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York and Delaware. Skip and Karen settled with their young kids on family property in Mount Cobb, and he began a long career at GNB/EXIDE, Dunmore, Pa., from which he retired in 2001.

Skip was well-known for many things by those who met, knew and loved him. He was a baker and cake decorator who taught the Wilton decorating method at Boscov’s and JC Penney’s. Many enjoyed his elaborately decorated and sometimes animated or sculptured birthday and wedding cakes, but his fresh fruit cakes are his baking legacy.

He loved volleyball and was a fixture in the stands for his kids and grandkids games at North Pocono High School. Whether it was volleyball or football, he was a Penn State fanatic and would never miss a game. He was also a fantastic host who planned and built a backyard oasis that all their friends and family enjoyed for campfires and celebrations for decades.

Skip spent much of life enjoying his great love of traveling, in his youth with his father and brother, then with Karen and their kids, and later with their best friends, Joe and Ann Cali. He traveled all four corners from Maine to Florida to California to Washington state and chased lighthouses following the shorelines of the Pacific, Atlantic, Gulf Coast and the Great Lakes. His vacations in his beloved Ocean City, Md. were his annual mainstay.

In addition to his wife, Karen, Skip is survived by his children, James P. Kramer and partner, Renee Bergeron, Jefferson Twp., Pa.; Vicki Kramer Rigby and husband, Doug, Walnutport, Pa.; his grandchildren, John Knapp and wife, Katie, Slatington, Pa.; Debbie Knapp and partner, Seth Moyer, Allentown, Pa.; Marc Karnes-Kramer and husband, Calvin, Salisbury, Md.; Eric Kramer, Jefferson Twp., Pa.; Heather Kramer and partner, Taylor Russell, Sanford, Fla.; and Ian Rigby, Philadelphia, Pa.; his great-grandchild, Jackson Knapp, Slatington, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James W. Kramer, Mercer, Pa.; and Frank P. DelGuercio, Dunmore, Pa.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to their Allied Hospice team for all the kind and compassionate care provided.
