Lorraine Ruth Pugh - Batzel, of Lake Ariel, died on April 5, 2006 at the age of 88 in Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was the wife of Allan Batzel and the couple were married for over 68 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Cordelia Chivers - Pugh. She graduated from Lake Consolidated School, Class of 1955. Prior to retirement, she worked at Umholtz Manufacturing for several years.

She attended Canaan Bible Chapel for over 44 years where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was active in several ministries and was in charge of the prayer chain for 35 years. She loved the Lord and especially enjoyed the ladies Sunday School Class.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and reading.

Surviving are her husband Allan Batzel; son Robert Batzel and his wife Janice of Lake Ariel; daughter Jeannette Ferris and her husband Scott of Madisonville; sister Evonne Moser of Torrey and Charlee Weisel and her husband Eugene of Montana; brothers Luray Pugh and his wife Donna of Lake Ariel and Allen Pugh and his wife Juanita of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Erika Jean Crosby and her husband Nate of North Carolina and Michael Robert Batzel and his wife Rachel of Lake Ariel; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Allan Batzel and a brother Rod Pugh.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 12:00PM in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel, with Pastor Daniel Henwood officiating.

Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00AM until the time of service.

Interment, East Canaan Cemetery, South Canaan.
