Louis J. Chimento

Louis J. Chimento, 79, of Lake Ariel, passed away Tuesday, April 16 th at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, following an illness. His loving wife of 59 years is the former Carol Marie Andes.

Born May 11, 1944 in Corona, NY, he was the son of the late Serafino and Florentina Laurita – Chimento. He was a graduate of Newtown High School and was a member of the St. Thomas More / St. Mary’s Parish Community. Prior to retirement, he was a New York City Police Officer having served in the 47 th precinct.

Lou was an avid New York Mets, Giants, and Rangers fan. He enjoyed classic cars, fishing, hunting, and bowling. He also enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and football.

Also surviving are his daughters Jennifer Sgarlata and her husband Joseph of Lake Ariel and Jillanne Scaduto and her husband Ignazio of Lake Ariel; sons Louis Chimento, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Franklin Square, NY, and Michael Chimento and his wife Stacy of Larchmont, NY; grandchildren Brandon, Kristen, Tyler, Sophia, Vincent, Anthony, Dominic, Christina and her husband Anthony, Joseph, and Samantha; great grandchildren Anthony and Nicholas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00am in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel

Those planning on attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church.

Friends may call Thursday from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Rd. Lake Ariel.

Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ledgedale.
